Chinguetti is a city in Mauritania located to the east of the state of Adara, Mauritania. It was founded in the 2nd century. It is a historical city that lived for centuries of prosperity before it fell and was buried. The current city of Chinguetti rose in its place, which was founded in 1262 AD. The origin of the name Chinguetti goes back to the Berbers or Berbers, meaning the horse\u2019s eye, and it was ancient. The starting point for the caravans of pilgrims heading to Mecca, passing through Egypt and Sudan. This is one of the reasons that deepened cultural relations with the Arab-Islamic countries.
